February

  • Thursday 5th Working Party More cleaning, painting and oiling (three locomotives and wagons). Admin and more photography carried out.
  • Saturday 7th Working Party Corris Mail Waggon moved to the siding behind the water column. LNWR wagon moved to the Gunpowder Store for re-painting. More painting, cleaning and meeting to discuss future plans.
  • Thursday 12th Working Party Public opening preparations. LNWR slate wagon moved with difficulty! Much cleaning, waxing and dusting. Large donation received and potential new acquisitions stored.
  • Mon 23rd Working Party Bryn Eglwys exhibition mounting.
  • Thursday 26th Working Party Sorting and documenting new acquisitions. Awdry Study cleaned. Jubilee painting continued. Scales platfrom sent to Pendre for repair.

March

  • Thursday 5th Working Party Re-painting Jubilee continues. Wire brushing LNWR slate wagon. Essential cleaning. Took delivery of plywood to store drawings and posters.
  • Saturday 7th Working Party Jubilee much improved following painting. LNWR wagon wire-brushing. Conservation wax applied to track components. Plywood folders made for posters. Admin and photography. New "change of object location" records.
  • Thursday 12th Working Party More Jubilee work. LNWR wagon painting. The seemingly endless task of conserving track components continued!
  • Thursday 19th Working Party Beautiful spring sunshine. Bryn Eglwys quarries exhibition finished. More track component conservation. LNWR slate wagon given a coat of red oxide. Platform weighing machine repaired and re-built. Documentation. Brass polishing and waxing.
  • Friday 20th Memorial Service for James Boyd A memorial service was held for former Museum Trustee James Boyd, who died on 20th February. The service was held at the church of St James the Great, Colwall, followed by a reception at The Downs School and a trip on the Downs Light Railway.
  • Thursday 26th Working Party Jubilee cab painting. Another coat of red oxide for the LNWR slate wagon. More documentation and cleaning. Re-ordered more red oxide paint and wax.
  • Sunday 29th Wagons Departing for Corris The Museum's Corris Mail Wagon and other Corris wagons based on the TR are moved temporarily to Corris to take part in the Corris 150 celebrations.

April

  • Thursday 2nd Working Party Busy this morning! Company electrician P A T testing in the museum and replacing light bulbs. More waxing. Work on Jubilee nearly finished. Royal opening plate polished. 5 visitors left a generous donation.
  • Saturday 4th Working Party First day of public opening this year. 56 visitors. Platform scales and LNWR slate wagon painting.
  • Good Friday - Stations@Stations On Good Friday, the Talyllyn Railway ran a special train commemorating the Stations of the Cross organised by the museum and local clergy and churchgoers.

  • Saturday 1st Working Party Replacement lighting for show cases finished. Guinness locomotive digital photo display improved. Slate wagon No 101 finished. Chairs acquired from cafe. Cleaning, dusting and polishing.
